Megan-Leigh Heilig is an artist living and working in Cape Town South Africa, originally from Johannesburg. She is currently studying for her Masters in Fine Art at Michaelis School of Art. Megan-Leigh was raised by her grandparents, surrounded by stories and objects collected throughout their lives. These stories and objects have become the fabric of her practice, sewn together through the medium of the film essay and multi-media installations. “My experiences and ways of seeing the world have been profoundly affected by stories about individuals I have never, and will never, meet; and yet the images of them, whether real or invented, have shaped my identity”. These stories have always led to many complex questions which she is currently exploring through a film-making practice.
